Flu cases on the rise; no school closures yet

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health monitors flu activity weekly using information provided by hospitals and doctors' offices. During a normal influenza season in February, about 4 percent of office visits are for flu related illnesses. Presently, approximately 5 percent of visits are for flu related illnesses. This is an indication that the influenza case rate is continuing to rise statewide.
